Aspergillus spp. is a genus of fungi commonly found in the environment, with certain species posing a significant risk to human health, especially in immunocompromised individuals. Infections caused by Aspergillus, known as aspergillosis, can range from mild allergic reactions to severe, invasive disease. The most notable species, Aspergillus fumigatus, is associated with invasive aspergillosis, a serious condition that can affect the lungs, sinuses, and other organs, potentially leading to life-threatening complications. Other species, like Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus niger, may also cause infection, contributing to a spectrum of diseases from mild respiratory issues to severe systemic involvement.
Aspergillus spp ELITe MGB® Kit is a quantitative PCR assay for the detection and quantification of the DNA of the Aspergillus genus: Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus nidulans, Aspergillus terreus, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus versicolor and Aspergillus glaucus. The assay is CE-IVD validated on diverse range of sample types, in combination with ELITe InGenius®, a fully automated sample-to-result solution.
